Yup, I don’t like horse racing. In fact, I don’t like horses in high speed sports of any kind. I particularly don’t like horses that have been bred to be fast racing machines and then discarded when they are no longer viable/healthy etc.
I hate the use of the whip in racing; I hate the Grand National.
I have no idea why it took me so long to start campaigning against horse abuse and neglect. I have an idea it was because I was so naive. I didn’t think that anyone could be cruel to another living thing, whether it was human or animal. Yet, I was the victim of bullying at school and verbal belittlement at home. I probably didn’t see or understood that for what it was worth.
One thing I would like to do is to work with horse welfare charities but, unfortunately, none of them in the UK are near to where I am based. I believe it would be the most satisfying and selfless act I could do. Throughout my life, my greatest wish was to own a horse. It has never happened and will probably never will but I won’t ever give up hope. So, maybe I shouldn’t give up hope that one day I will be able to work with horses that have been abused and neglected.
I am based in North London and if you think I could help you in any way with looking after and rehabilitating abused/neglected horses, please do get in touch via this blog. I shall set up a contact form or similar to make things easier. Or, if you just want to get in touch with me for any other reason, then please do so.
